Since 1997, the Stanton Territorial Health Authority and the Stanton Territorial Hospital Foundation have partnered to identify areas of the Hospital that need to be improved or expanded on. Once a priority is identified, the Foundation – through donations and special events – raises the money to meet the need. In 2011-12, the Stanton Territorial Health Authority had over 112,000 visits. To meet the demand of thousands of residents across the Northwest Territories and the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, our Hospital requires constant upgrades to maintain high-quality patient care in one of the largest geographic regions in Canada. While the Government provides most of the day-to-day costs for operating Stanton, it cannot meet all of the Hospital’s needs which is why the Foundation raises funds to help purchase vital medical equipment and improve the facility. It is only through the generous support from people like you that our Hospital will continue to be well-equipped to serve you, your family and your friends across the North when you need it most. Every donation, large or small, helps ensure our staff have access to the best tools to do their job and save lives at our Territorial Hospital. From the digital mammography machine to the cribs in Pediatrics to the stereo binocular for the lab, the equipment purchased in 2011-12 made a real and tangible difference in the Hospital’s ability to deliver the best possible healthcare. We truly value our partnership with the Stanton Foundation, the generosity of the community, and the ongoing commitment of volunteers who support health care, particularly with the increasing challenges in healthcare that we need to keep pace with.
